IMPACTFUL BUSINESS NETWORK

A global business network for owners/management who want to use their business for positive social impact on the world AND for people from other areas of society who want to support them.

Our ideal scenario for this network is for it become a financial cornerstone of the SotG network, helping to pay for our NGO work AND as a way to provide a partial salary both for our contributors who take on the role of City Manager and secondly, some paid internship positions. If you have not yet read the overall concept(which is below this next section), then some parts of this might not make complete sense upon first reading.

Our initial thoughts regarding the membership fee structure would be something along the lines of:

Annual membership fee will be based on the size of your company as calculated by number of employees/full time contractors
Base Annual Fee = 500 CHF(Zurich and other expensive cities*) for sole proprietors + 5 CHF for every employee. So 50 employees=750 CHF, 100=1000 CHF, 500=3000 CHF, etc. This will mostly be based on an honor system, so if you just have a lot of part time contractors, we ask you to calculate how many full time employees that would equal.

For each $100 of your annual membership fee, you are entitled to 1 hour of SotG Coaching(1 hour of group or 1/2 hour of 1-on1). These hours can be used by you personally or distributed throughout your organization for team workshops, executive training, etc.

As membership grows there will be extra events added for each tier of company size, so CEOs of similar sized companies will have extra time to spend with each other in addition to the full group events.

Discounts will be available for students, start-ups, and part time business owners.
There will also be a separate pricing structure for supporters who don’t own a business but wish to support with their expertise in the worlds of academia/schools, NGO, media, and government. Because this type of membership does not come with any sort of coaching included, it can start as low as $100 or $50 for students.

We also plan to start with a remote/online option, so if there are not enough members in your city to have regular meetings, you pay a much lower rate, but can still join the online events or in-person events if visiting a city with a full chapter.

Benefits will include:
The in-person networking

The included coaching hours + a discount on additional hours

Online webinars

Mixers which bring together members from different cities

Once a city chapter has reached a certain size(approximately 40 members) and there is enough money to pay a 2nd partial salary, that person will also do personalized matchmaking, so rather than just join the club and do the networking all on your own, someone who is familiar with all the members can made individualized connections.

We have not finalized how much City Managers will get paid, but are loosely thinking 40-50% of the annual membership fee up until it makes sense to hire that 2nd person, then a smaller amount afterwards for each additional member who joins. This ratio also might change if we have a situation where we have both a country manager and city managers.

One alternative idea would be to start all members with a 6 month membership, of which the City Manager gets zero, but they get 50% of the annual fee for each member which renews after 6 months. This would incentivize making sure members are properly integrated and disincentive the recruit anybody you can approach.

*GDP of Professionals in Zurich is $100,000 a year, so we may loosely use the ratio of $100 for every $20,000 of GDP as our baseline. Please note that if your city’s annual membership fee ends up being significantly less than $500 using this approach, you will probably want to offer more than just 1 hour of coaching per $100

ALSO: VERY IMPORTANT Please note that if you yourself are not trained as a SotG coach and there are no other trained SotG Coaches in your immediate vicinity, you will probably need to reduce the membership fee even further as it would not be appropriate to charge the full price if only online coaching is available. In general anybody who is currently a full time Corporate, Entrepreneur, or Career Coach should be able to quickly complete SotG certification(which is still a work in progress).
We also will likely launch with the standard membership rate reduced by 40% and not including the coaching in the beginning.
Typical breakdown of where the fees go(will vary slightly in certain situations):
20% referral fee to whoever referred the member
20% goes to the organizers of the local events

40% goes to the coach(es)
20% goes to SotG/our local NGO affiliate

OUR VISION

A global business network with chapters in most major cities around the world. Membership will consist of business owners/managers AND supporters from the world of academia, government, NGO, media, etc.
Any profits from this network will be used to support our global non-profit and its national chapters.
We are currently in the process of building out the grassroots layers of the global network through business owners/managers share our core principles and who wish to help develop this network. There will be a fee structure, either yearly or lifetime, with alternative options to buy in as partners or franchisees.

Our network will be based on philosophy,
methodology and combined marketing power.

Philosophy: We only want owners/managers who believe in the values of our NGO. Please visit our home page, SpiritoftheGame.org to read more about our mission and core principles

Methodology: Because our focus is on Impact, we have positioned ourselves at a multi-disciplinary nexus, giving our members access to a unique combination of skill sets, i.e. the type of insight and ideas which you typically can’t get from within the business community

Marketing power: Spirit of the Game is an NGO, a life philosophy, and a social movement, all of which bring a sense of purpose to the table which is lacking in many business models. Drawing on this sense of purpose and tapping the extensive connections of the SotG global Impact Network will be a key competitive advantage both in how we attract members and how we help our members maximize their positive impact on the world.

WHAT’S NEW
ABOUT OUR NETWORK

Our network exists to fund our NGO work, rather than our NGO being a part of the company’s public relations arm. In addition, it is our intention to build up a network of national NGO chapters alongside the national networking franchises which will enhance the “think global, act local” element of our model.

We will have local shareholders, not just subcontractors. Again, the goal of this coaching network is not to make the founders rich, but to create a harmonious and symbiotic ecosystem which allows our members to make a positive impact in multiple ways while still making a healthy living.

We are starting with an existing network which includes over 10,000 personal contacts across 145 countries, as well as high level NGO and government contacts, and our Impact Network is increasing in size and reach weekly.

Leadership Development – Individual and group consulting, as well as peer advisory groups for owners, managers, board members, executives, and executive assistants

Full Social Impact Platform Analysis and Development – For larger companies we can:

We also have a full range of partners who can offer Sustainability services, which allows us to stay focused on Impact.

CREATIVE IMPACT SUMMARY

There are several other elements which make our global Impactful Business Network unique:

Access to our core coaching offerings is included in the basic membership package

We will be continually adding to our list of certified business partners who will offer their services at a discount to our members.

A regular schedule of both online and in-person(Covid permitting) meetings, as well as a better structure to help our members interact with members in other cities.

A special membership rate for NGOs, especially those in the startup phase. There will also be a special student rate for the supporter membership.

Regular polling of our community to determine which additional features or changes to our current systems are actually desired; i.e. no top down, arbitrary changes simply because it’s easier for our leadership team.
